Hi my friends… Sorry I couldn't be here last night, Yesterday was my translation exam and I was very wrought up, Thank God it passed smoothly –kind of-. So I'll tell you a little bit about the famous cat…
I think you all know Shrodinger ((If you don't check out the article about him in our magazine Sadeem Al-Oloom)) Shrodinger suggested a closed box containing one atom of a radioactive material, this atom has Half-life of one hour, that means if you take a certain number of this material, half of it during one hour will disintegrate releasing a particle per-atom in the surrounding environment, Which means that in one hour the atom Shrodinger put in the box will either be in tacked, or lost a particle.. These two possibilities were equal.
Now we'll say that the released particle from the atom in the box can hit a specific cell urging it to break a small tube with a poison in it, which could kill any living being in the box.
Now if we put a cat in that box ((I don't know why a cat I think Shrodinger didn't like cats that much!!!)) After one hour exactly, will the cat be alive or dead??
This approach has only one purpose which is to show that every single event around us is affected by us observing it, and the way we think about the different possibilities create a different world for each one. That means that there' are tow worlds in the first the cat is dead, in the other the cat is alive, but we can't tell which one is the original true one and which is the copy!!!
And if you think that opening the box will relief you, you're mistaken. Because there's a slim chance that your attempt to open the box will break the tube, then you'll be the one to kill a cat and you don't want that. In the other hand if you wait much longer the chance of the atom releasing the particle will increase..
And that's why the call it ((Shrodinger Irony)).
I hope you get the idea. If not I'll try to explain it in Arabic if you like.
